 Nutritional therapy

Nutritional therapy is the application of scientific principles for the promotion of optimal health, lifestyle and well-being, and can therefore be recognised as being ‘complimentary’ to all other therapies. It recognises that even a single imbalance in the body may lead to systemic health problems that may retard healing or simply decrease wellbeing; we so often accept dysfunction by thinking less than optimal function is ‘normal’ or that we should ‘learn to live with it’. Emma Mayou provides this service at Equilibrium.

Nutritional therapy works alongside and compliments the other healthcare professions by bringing the understanding that when it comes to diet, each individual has specific and unique requirements and the old “one size fits all” approach cannot be applied to wellness.

By combining nutritional therapy with fitness and training knowledge, (Emma is also a qualified personal trainer), Emma aims to help you achieve optimum energy levels; healthy blood sugar control; emotional and psychological wellbeing; optimum gastrointestinal health and tolerance to a broad range of food groups. Eating in the right way can play a major role in delivering improved health and wellbeing, fitness and performance.

Using questionnaires and one-to-one consultations, Emma assesses and identifies potential dietary and/or nutritional imbalance(s), and explain how these may be contributing to your individual symptoms and health concerns.

These are some of the symptoms that may improve with help from nutritional therapy; digestive dysfunction, IBS, food allergies, high cholesterol, diabetes, stress, adrenal fatigue, hypertension, muscle fatigue, osteoporosis, arthritis, gout, pre-menstrual syndrome, fitness performance, sports nutrition, skin, hair and nail health, food cravings, mood swings, chronic fatigue, frequent infections, and weight-loss to name but a few*.

* If you have or suspect you have any of these medical conditions you should visit your GP first for advice on treatment before undertaking a nutritional program or extreme diet changes
