Exercise and rehab programmes
In order to prevent recurrence of your injury, or even to just reach a new goal, you may need to adopt a programme of exercises that are tailored to fit your personal strengths and limitations. For many clients, the aim is to strengthen an area after an injury or to help their body cope with a specific demand such as an activity in the workplace or a sport. Whilst your Chiropractor or Osteopath can show you some basic stretching and strengthening, experience has taught us that the motivated clients need more! Your practitioner naturally wants to focus and adjustments and soft tissue work that will progress you along the path of recovery, so we wanted someone to support this with a longer appointment that gives plenty of time to get the exercises and rehab right for you.
To meet this need, we all work alongside our personal trainer, Abbie. With your consent, we can discuss with Abbie what you are aiming to achieve. She then creates a bespoke programme, which your practitioner checks over. Any modifications based on your clinical presentation can be made before you even come in! You can arrange a one-to-one appointment with her where she can demonstrate the correct way to do the rehab programme, check you have good form and tell you how to progress. She will usually arrange a follow up to assess your progress and refresh the programme/correct any bad habits.
Abbie will work with simple equipment such as therabands and tins of baked beans! She will also use body weight exercises. This approach means you can easily complete your programme at home. If you do have gym membership, let us know and we can aim the programme at more specialist equipment.
